6) WHY ARE WE BAPTIZED?

COMMENT #1:

To be buried with Christ into his death and to be raised up in a newness of life, but not for remission of sins.

CLARIFICATION #1:

In Acts 2:38 the word "for" Greek word "eiv eis ice" Meaning (into, unto, towards) This word does not mean "because of". That word "for" Greek word "gar" is used in Matthew 1:20

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for (unto) the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Matthew 1:20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for (because of) that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. (because of) that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

Another verse showing baptism is necessary to remove sins.

Acts 22:16  And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

Understand there's nothing special about the water. It's not the water washing your sins away, but the blood of Christ. It's the obedience to the command and the fact that we are buried into Christ death (Romans 6:3) that cleanses us from our sins. Note in Romans 6:3 that like Christ was raised up from the dead, we too are raised up from the watery grave to walk a new life.  Our new life starts when we are raised up from the watery grave or baptism. If our sin were forgiven before the watery grave, then we would have been walking a new life before watery grave. The resemblance of dying to sin through repentance, being buried after this death, then being raised up sin free from the watery grave, is like Christ dying on the cross, being buried in the grave, then being raised from the dead by the glory of the Father.

Romans 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?  4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

There are many like figures (antitypes) in the Old Testament where God used water to save people. In Exodus 14 :16 The children of Israel were saved by the parting of the Red Sea. Also Noah was saved through water. 1 Peter 3:20

Exodus 14:16 But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.

1 Peter 3:20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. 21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
